🎣 Exciting news! Part two of our amazing episode is now live! We had the privilege of chatting with three experienced anglers who have been in the competition scene for years. If you missed part one, make sure to go back and catch up before diving into this one. The boater and non-boater stories complement each other perfectly, offering unique perspectives on their experiences. 🔥 This round was sponsored by Rapala / Crush City, and each angler received a sample pack of their new soft plastics. We believe it made a significant impact on the results. Tune in to both episodes to hear our thoughts on it! 🎙️ First up, we have Mick Horn, a Rapala employee who played a crucial role in designing the new range of plastics. He shares valuable insights on how to use these lures effectively. Mick and Tim Morgan, also from Rapala, were paired with Joel McKenzie and Lance Marsh on alternate days. Joel finished in 2nd place, while Lance secured 4th place. Don't miss this fantastic interview! 🎣 Next, we welcome back Steve Morgan, who has been having a fantastic year using his Garmin Live Scope and 3lb straight through fluorocarbon. Check out his YouTube page for more exciting videos on how he achieves impressive results. Steve provides an in-depth account of his fishing techniques and graciously acknowledges Steve Wilson's victory. 🏆 Lastly, we have Steve Wilson, a true veteran in bream competitions. After years of fishing and placing in various events, this was his first qualifier win. You can hear the joy and relief in his voice during this interview. It's a fitting end to this mammoth two-part episode! 🎧 This double episode is a personal favorite, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Don't forget to tune in and let us know your thoughts. Happy fishing! 🎣🎙️ #TheBreamFishingProject #PodcastEpisode #AnglersUnite

This is was another great round from the Abt Daiwa bream series. With six angler interveiws over two parts, this is one not to be missed. This round was sponsored by Rapala, and marks the recent lauch of the Crush City range of soft plastics designed and developed in Australia. Each angler was given a mix of different soft plastics at the briefing on Friday night. Tune in to see how this affected the results! First up we have Jordan Armstrong who placed third in the Non - boater division. I must say it was an absolute pleasure to speak with Jordan. Jordan was paired up whith two awesome boaters. On day one , he fished with Steve Wilson and was able to to catch his three fish many times over. Then on day two he was paired with Anthony Wishey. I spoke with Jordan at length about fishing with Anthony and I was so impressed by what Jordan had to say, I recorded an angler interview with Anthony that will be aired on The Australian Lure Fishing Podcast tomorrow. Make sure you listen in to hear what Jordan has to say. If you are on the fence about fishing an ABT round, this may push you over the edge. Next up I spoke with Joel Mckenzie. While Joel has not been on The Bream Fishing Project previously, he has been mentioned before. Back in episode 22, I spoke with the non - boater winner Lance Marsh who is Joels father in-law. If you have not heard this interview I encourage you to go back and have a listen. The other interesting thing about this round is that Lance and Joel were paried with the same boaters. Joel had Tim Morgan on Saturday and Mick Horn on Sunday. Lance had Mick Horn on Saturday and Tim Morgan on Sunday. For anyone who doesn't know, both Mick And Tim work for Rapala who sponsored the round. In his interview Joel run through the lures and techniques he used to fill his bags. He also spoke about the how the sounder helped them to locate bream. Then in first place in the Non - Boater division we have Peter Clark. This was another great interview. As you will hear in the interview , Peter travelled up to the Gold Coast, with his mate Andrew Stubbs to try and secure a top ten finish and secure a spot in the Grand Final. He did better than that, he won the event. If you tune in an d listen through to Peters inteview, you will hear how he channelled some sponsor karma using one of the new Rapala lure he was give at the briefing. Peter did eventually need a couple more lures and Tim The Bream Morgan came to the rescue with a few extra soft plastics. I did read a comment from Tim saying that Peter had showed him that these particular lures worked well on bream. Next week we will have Part 2. This was a special win, and is not to be missed

In this episode I had a fantastic discussion with Taka Kawasaki from Daiwa Australia. Any of the regular listeners will recognise Taka as the winner of the non - boater division of the ABT Hawkesbury and Gladstone rounds. In Taka's role at Daiwa he takes care of hard-body lures and colours. So we thought with the recent releases at AFTA this would be a great time to run through all of the new Bream related lures and colours. We spoke at length about why some colours we added to different lures. Daiwa also uses some fascinating technology with their 'Adel' colour schemes. Taka explained how and why those colours were developed. The very popular 'DR Minnow ' has been re- released in jointed and non - jointed models. Although these lures are the same model, they have very specific uses. Taka explains the locations and techniques that these lures were designed for. After we cover all of the lures, Taka shares some information about the flourocarbon and braided lines that Daiwa has to offer. Taka has also initiated line recycling that all fishermen and women can participate in. We talk about exactly how it works and how everyone can get involved. We also have a promotion running where the winner will recieve a whole swag of new lures, but you will need to tune in to find out all about it! This promotion closes 31 August 2023 and the winner win be announced on Facebook September 1st and notified via Facebook messenger. The prize pack will not be available until all the lures are instock and available to retailers.

In this episode we travel to South Australia to The Onkaparinga River to review what was the the toughest round that I have reported on so far. This round was sponsored by Pro Lure Australia. Big bream was sponsored by Berley Pro! In this system they have an event locally known as "The Bloodworm Run. " Did this contribute to fishing being very tough? First up I spoke with Sean Person. Sean is a local angler who has had good sucess in the Bream tournament scene. Tune in to see how he caught his fish. In second place was Josh Bland who has also had some good sucuess in the Bream master Series. As you will hear, this was a really tough round and Josh was able to take out big bream with a cracking Bream over a kilo. Josh was very close to first place and gives a great account of his day. In first place, backing it up his win from the previous Onkaparinga round in 2021 was Ryan Ottens. Ryan didn’t get a chance to pre fish and used his experience on this system to find the fish. Ryan had some gear failure which resrticted his movements, but still managed to grind out a win. Ryan has a favourite type of lure he uses a lot of the time, tune in to see what he used to take the win!

In this episode we head north to Gladstone in QLD. For the first time this year we throw Pikey Bream back into the mix. This is also an arena where there is much more run in the tide than the rest of the circuit. This is another huge show, with 5 x angler interviews. First up in second place in the non-boater division I spoke with Col Wilson. This was an interesting interview starting with a pairing of Stephen and Colin Wilson who did not know each other before this event. Colin gave a detailed account of how he caught his bream which would help any angler heading up to this area. Then we moved on to the rock-star of the Non-boater division Taka Kawasaki who flew in from Sydney and went straight from the airport to the waterway and jumped on Wally Fahey's boat. Taka was paired with Liam Robinson on day one and Allan Murray on day two. Taka shares his first Pikey Bream capture which involved a bit of luck and some good observation skills! In third place in the boater division I was Stephen Wilson. This was another interesting conversation that starts with Stephen explaining how fishing in July changed things for this competition. In the past the Gladstone round has typically been held in September and the change in dates this year definitely affected the fishing. Stephen also spoke about how the big tides affect how the bream behave. In second place was the defending champion Tom Deer who has been very successful in this arena. You will need to listen to this interview to hear Tom's strategy around chasing big fish verses chasing numbers of fish. Tom shared a small modification he sometimes makes to his Atomic Crank 38 lures which is worth hearing about. Then in first place, is the in-form angler Chri Lonne. Chris has just taken out the QLD open in his last event and then backed it up in Gladstone. On the Friday prefish Chris found a new location which helped him take out this competition.

In this episode we head back to the Gold Coast for what is one of my favourite rounds for the year. I had a blast at the competition and I really enjoyed recording this episode. First up we have repeat guest Joel Crosbie in third place. Joel is having an awesome season this year and is a very good chance of taking out AOY for 2023. In talking with Joel in this episode and also over on the Australian Lure Fishing Podcast I have been amazed at just how competitive Joel is. I think you will really enjoy hearing about how Joel caught his fish. In second place is another repeat guest Guy Struthers. Guy has been at the pointy end of the field for a number of years. Guy is a QLD local and first up he shares some thoughts on how the wind and weather affects the fishing conditions up on the GC. If you are interested in fishing canals and pontoons, Guy is a master at this and he gave some great insights about how he catches bream in these areas. Finally, in first place is Gareth Goodhew. This was Gareth's first Hobie Tournament win and although he came home in first place it wasn't all smooth sailing and big numers of fish. Tune in to hear how his two days came together. Gareth also told me about his first at a Hobie competition. This is a good interview to listen to if you are considering entering for the first time.

In this episode we leave the kayaks behind as we travel back to Western Australia and cover the ABT round on the Blackwood river. I think this is one of the more interesting venues on the bream fishing circuit. I find it interesting that several anglers have spoken about getting "wooded." This venue also can produce huge numbers of fish as you will hear in this episode. We have 5 x angler interviews starting with second in the non-boater division. Blair Paisley-Kerr shares how day one started slowly but with his boater Matt McCarthy they made the decision to change location. Listen in to see what changes Blair made to help him catch enough fish to finish in 1st place overnight and in second place after day two. I then had a very interesting discussion with Aden Miller who is usually a shore based angler. Aden fished for bream from a boat for the first time in this competition, but it did not start smoothly. Aden spoke about what he and his boater, Paul Burton did on day 1 to overcome some motoer issues. This was also Aden's first ABT competition and to win his division is a great story. In 4th place in the boater division was repeat guest Matt McCarthy. Matt's and Blair fished together on day 1 and now you get to hear the other side of that story. Matt tried a couple of unusual lures that produced results. You will need to listen to see what he used and what caught fish! We then move in to second place and talk with Alex Greisdorf. This is one of Alex's favourite systems and used his prefish to rule out some areas. Using his knowledge of the system Alex was able to fill his bags quickly and was then able to upgrade throughout the day. Alex also shared some insights around bream spawning and how water temperature can affect the fishing. FInally, for the second time in two Blackwood River rounds, I spoke with the winner Joseph Gardiner. Last time I spoke with Joseph we talked about a new lure which was proving to be very successful. This time he spills the beans..... but not before Alex did in his interview. I also spoke briefly about his mother Jenny who fished this event. This is another great story. I look forward to the next round in WA,which I believe is the Swan River Round in the kayaks.
